A Axis Communications Case Study
The Michigan State Police’s Forensic Science Laboratory needed a 24-hour, remotely monitored security system when it moved off the police compound to protect evidence, control access for more than 60 staff, and replace the former on‑site guards and analog-only cameras. Axis Communications provided network video technology (Axis video servers/network video) as a key component to enable digital surveillance and integration with the lab’s security infrastructure.
Honeywell and Cisco integrated Axis Communications’ network video into a single, networked security solution using Honeywell’s Digital Video Manager over the state intranet; Axis video servers digitized analog camera feeds so authorized personnel can view real‑time images via a web browser. The integrated Axis-based system let officers visually verify alarms, match proximity-card access to images, retain pre/during/post-alarm footage for evidence, and substantially reduce false-alarm responses—saving time and money and lowering total cost of ownership.
