St. Cloud augments water treatment plant safety and security with Axis network cameras

The City of St. Cloud, Florida, needed to secure a new water treatment plant and other water facilities but had limited staffing and a planned analog system that would be costly and fragile. Axis Communications network cameras (deployed with integrator SiteSecure and Genetec’s Omnicast VMS) were selected to provide a higher-resolution, future-proof surveillance solution.

Axis Communications implemented a perimeter-managed, self-healing fiber ring connecting AXIS 233D, AXIS 221 and AXIS 223M network cameras (5 AXIS 233D and 16 AXIS 221 at the new plant, plus additional units at the wastewater and repump sites) and AXIS 243Q encoders at City Hall. The deployment delivered clear forensic-quality images, faster retrieval and sharing of archived video, automated alarm-triggered notifications, better fault tolerance and infrastructure cost savings versus the analog plan—enabling remote verification of equipment, quicker emergency response and reduced staffing needs.
