The Town of Billerica, Massachusetts — home to about 40,000 residents — needed to upgrade its aging analog camera system so the Billerica Police Department could better deter crime and capture usable evidence. They selected Axis Communications, deploying Axis network cameras (including the AXIS P33 series) and AXIS Camera Station to improve image quality, night performance and overall situational awareness.

Axis Communications implemented a fiber‑connected system that has grown to a 37‑camera deployment, plus AXIS A1001 Network Door Panels managed via AXIS Entry Manager. The solution’s Lightfinder low‑light capability and high‑resolution cameras enabled officers to catch a suspect at the skate park, produce usable nighttime footage without extra lighting, and reduce response/verification times. Billerica continues expanding the Axis system with additional models and access‑control upgrades.
