A Axis Communications Case Study
Pickens County School District, serving about 16,000 students across 27 K‑12 schools, sought to move from a handful of analog cameras to a full IP video security system to address rising safety concerns. Axis Communications, working with integrator A3 Communications, provided an open, non‑proprietary IP solution centered on Axis network cameras (notably the AXIS P33 Series fixed domes), encoders and supporting infrastructure.
A3 and the district deployed roughly 1,600 Axis network cameras alongside S2 access control and Video Insight VMS, delivering 24/7 recording with motion‑triggered higher frame rates and 60–90 days of retention. Axis Communications’ cameras achieved full coverage of doors, hallways, parking lots and common areas, enabled faster investigations (including exonerating a student and identifying a contractor’s license plate), and unlocked non‑security uses like classroom video distribution and board meeting capture — significantly improving campus safety and operational capability.
