A Axis Communications Case Study
The U.S. National Park Service (Statue of Liberty) needed a complete overhaul of its aging analog CCTV after Hurricane Sandy to protect millions of visitors, secure the islands’ perimeter, cover the statue’s interior (including all 393 steps), and improve screening and ferry operations. Axis Communications provided the core network video technology—HDTV- and megapixel-grade Axis network cameras and IP video solutions—deployed through partners to replace and extend the legacy system.
Total Recall designed and installed an integrated solution built around more than 160 Axis Communications cameras (fixed dome and PTZ), Milestone XProtect VMS, BriefCam analytics, Pivot3 storage appliances, and fiber/wireless links to reach previously unreachable areas. The Axis-based system eliminated surveillance blind spots across Liberty District, delivered real‑time and archived video access, enabled rapid video synopsis and mobile live feeds, and produced measurable operational benefits—reuniting lost visitors, verifying lost-property claims, investigating incidents, and rerouting ferries to reduce docking backups.
