A Axis Communications Case Study
The David L. Lawrence Convention Center, a 1.5 million sq. ft. LEED-certified venue in Pittsburgh that hosts events from a few hundred to 50,000 attendees, needed a more nimble, shareable surveillance solution as it migrated from legacy analog systems. To meet that challenge the center engaged Axis Communications to provide high-definition Axis network cameras and encoder technology alongside an OnSSI Ocularis VMS to improve situational awareness and coordinate with law enforcement and first responders.
Dagostino Electronic Services installed the OnSSI Ocularis VMS, integrated 50 existing analog cameras with an AXIS Q7920 Network Video Encoder Rack and deployed more than 100 Axis fixed‑dome and PTZ PoE network cameras. Axis Communications’ cameras gave the security team flexible, reconfigurable coverage, high-resolution facial detail that helped identify and apprehend suspects, panic‑button camera pop‑ups for rapid assessment, shared access for internal teams and police, and reliable long‑term operation—delivering measurable improvements in coverage and response across the convention center.
