Missouri hospital curbs vandalism and theft with Axis network cameras and encoders

CoxHealth in Springfield, Missouri faced stretched security resources across its 52‑acre campus and a new 780‑car parking garage, with gaps in analog coverage making it difficult to obtain forensic‑quality video and quickly dispatch officers. To address this, CoxHealth turned to Axis Communications for a network‑based surveillance solution using Axis pan/tilt/zoom and HD network cameras and video encoders.

Axis Communications, working with integrator NetWatch and OnSSI VMS, deployed dozens of Axis cameras (including AXIS 215 PTZ, AXIS 225FD and AXIS M3011 models), migrated legacy analog feeds with encoders, and put video on a secure network with OnSSI Ocularis recording. The result was centralized monitoring of more than 300 cameras, 3–4 weeks of archived forensic‑quality video, faster dispatch and successful arrests and prosecutions (including capturing a thief one block away), a strong deterrent effect, and plans to add 60+ Axis HDTV cameras—demonstrating clear reductions in crime and improved evidence handling.
