Maintaining small town security with Axis

The Town of Pepperell faced the need to replace bulky, low‑resolution analog cameras that made it difficult to monitor the Police Department building, parking lots, downtown areas and other municipal sites. They selected Axis Communications network cameras — including AXIS M3114‑VE, AXIS Q6032‑E and AXIS P3225‑LV models — to deliver high‑definition imagery and advanced features such as Zipstream compression, along with Axis Camera Station and AXIS Camera Management for system oversight.

Axis Communications deployed a mix of fixed and PTZ network cameras with preset positions and Zipstream to reduce storage needs, integrated with an exacqVision VMS/recorder for unified management. The solution enabled 24/7 remote monitoring, saved officer time by eliminating routine checks of remote sites, and produced concrete results — for example a Q6032‑E captured a speeding vehicle and license plate that led to a citation — while interview‑room HD recording and Zipstream noticeably reduced bandwidth and storage demands.
