A Axis Communications Case Study
The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office needed a reliable 24/7 surveillance solution to augment a 3:1 inmate-to-officer ratio at the Worcester County House of Correction and Jail in West Boylston, MA. They selected Axis Communications’ IP-based, vandal-resistant network cameras (over 100 units, including AXIS P3367 and P3301 models) to provide high-resolution coverage across the 12-building campus.
Siemens integrated the Axis cameras into Genetec Security Center so officers can monitor live feeds in control booths and archive footage centrally; Axis Communications’ high-definition cameras allow staff to zoom in on inmate behavior, helping to de-escalate incidents and provide clear evidence for investigations. The system has produced measurable results—capturing a gang brawl/stabbing that led to identification, charges and additional sentencing—and the archived video is now used for training and remote maintenance, improving overall situational awareness.
