John Carroll University deploys Axis network cameras to protect traveling museum exhibition

John Carroll University needed to protect a nationally touring museum exhibition on campus and meet the museum’s contractual security requirements—daily inspections, staffing during open hours, and locked doors after hours—while providing a higher level of deterrence and monitoring. To meet that challenge, the university worked with Axis Communications, deploying four HDTV-resolution AXIS M1145 Network Cameras to augment locks and staffing.

Installed by the university’s IT Services with Citi Electrical and integrated with a Lenel video management system, the Axis cameras streamed live 24/7 to the department conference-room desktop, recorded on motion with day/night IR, and archived footage for forensic review. Axis Communications loaned the cameras (renting would have cost over 50% more than the project budget), enabled remote daily inspections that reduced staff travel, and—as a visible deterrent—helped produce zero incidents during the six-week exhibition.
