A Axis Communications Case Study
Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, NY needed 24/7 live surveillance for a new 750‑space satellite employee parking lot located several blocks from the main building but couldn’t trench cable to support analog cameras. To meet that challenge the hospital deployed Axis Communications network cameras — including AXIS 233D Network Dome Cameras and AXIS Q7406 Video Encoders — as the core of an IP-based remote parking lot surveillance solution.
A+ Technology Solutions implemented a wireless bridge (using a Motorola PTP500 link) to transmit video from the Axis cameras to the hospital’s security operations center and integrated feeds into the DynaView VMS. Axis Communications’ cameras deliver PTZ control, embedded motion detection and auto‑tracking, enabling 24/7 monitoring, quicker incident response and the ability to identify drivers, license plates and employee stickers. By network‑enabling 144 legacy analog cameras and using H.264/MPEG‑4 compression, the hospital consolidated streams, eliminated multiple DVRs and extended video archives to about a month (vs. two weeks previously), while avoiding costly trenching.
