A Axis Communications Case Study
Central Piedmont Community College needed to replace 18 aging analog systems with a centralized, all‑IP surveillance solution that would span its main campus and six satellite locations, provide high‑resolution detail and analytics, and dovetail with its upgraded 30 Gbit network backbone. Central Piedmont selected Axis Communications—deploying Axis high‑resolution fixed‑dome and PTZ network cameras (including AXIS P3344‑VE and AXIS Q6032‑E), AXIS Camera Management and Axis video encoders—to integrate with their ipConfigure VMS and meet campus security, facilities and law‑enforcement needs.
Axis Communications helped CPCC deploy more than 400 network cameras across seven campuses with multi‑streaming and H.264 compression, enabling central 24/7 monitoring and single‑server, system‑wide management. The solution reduced bandwidth use about tenfold, prioritized surveillance traffic via QoS, supported access‑control video and policing for major events, and produced tangible results—police used footage to recover a stolen car within 24 hours and Axis cameras even continued recording through a parking‑deck fire—improving forensic capability, network efficiency and campus safety.
