Case Study: Wegmans LPGA Championship achieves reduced security costs and higher net proceeds for charity with Axis Communications

A Axis Communications Case Study

Preview of the Wegmans LPGA Championship Case Study

Axis tops the leaderboard for LPGA tournament security

Wegmans LPGA Championship, a major LPGA tournament that donates 100% of net proceeds to charity, faced high costs for round‑the‑clock security across its 300‑acre course and the challenge of providing effective overnight and temporary-event surveillance. To address gaps in visibility—especially at night and during rapid event set‑up/tear‑down—the tournament engaged Axis Communications technology (deployed by partner Securitronics) to augment its security program with network cameras.

Securitronics installed eight Axis network cameras (including thermal, day/night and vandal‑resistant dome models) and used Fluidmesh wireless transmission and ExacqVision recording to deliver full‑resolution live video and smartphone push notifications to patrols. Axis Communications’ cameras let operators monitor golf carts, ambulances, trailers, shuttle traffic and the expo tent (about 100,000 spectators), improving situational awareness, enabling smarter daytime and nighttime staffing, and offering projected night‑security savings of up to $20,000 while helping protect and potentially increase the tournament’s charity proceeds.
