Case Study: City of Houston achieves secure Super Bowl LIVE operations and enhanced public safety with Axis Communications

A Axis Communications Case Study

Preview of the City of Houston Case Study

Axis partners with City of Houston to secure Super Bowl LIVE and downtown attractions

City of Houston needed to secure Super Bowl LIVE — a 10-day fan festival expecting over one million visitors — but faced chaotic, changing venue layouts and heavy wireless interference that limited streaming to command posts. The city partnered with Axis Communications to augment its camera network, deploying a mix of Axis network cameras (PTZ and thermal models including AXIS F44 main units with AXIS F4005-E sensor units, AXIS Q6155-E PTZs and AXIS Q1942-E thermals) to cover gates, perimeter and rooftops.

Axis Communications’ cameras were integrated with a fiber backbone (Verizon), Siklu wireless links and the city’s Vidsys platform to deliver real-time video and analytics to police, fire, emergency management and transportation agencies. The deployment included five-camera installations at each secured gate and rooftop thermal/PTZ coverage of the 750,000 sq ft Discovery Green perimeter, supporting command posts and on-the-ground response — enabling effective situational awareness during a successful event with over one million attendees and laying the groundwork for continued technology-driven safety improvements.
