Axis cameras help the City of Huntington Beach, California investigate crimes downtown over a completely wireless network

The City of Huntington Beach needed reliable downtown video surveillance to support police investigations but lacked fiber infrastructure and its police headquarters was two miles from the beach. Axis Communications was used to provide an IP video solution, deploying rugged Axis network cameras including AXIS Q6034-E PTZ and AXIS P3363-E/P3364-E fixed dome models to cover Main Street and the Pier.

Systems integrator CelPlan deployed a completely wireless system using Axis Communications cameras connected via RADWIN wireless links, managed with Genetec Security Center and recorded on Dell servers. The solution delivered immediate, usable evidence (helping solve a bicycle theft and an assault with arrests), allowed 24/7 monitoring and PTZ guard tours, and expanded from an initial seven Axis cameras to add 15 more—significantly improving investigative capability and public safety.
