A Axis Communications Case Study
The Wildlife Center of Virginia, an education-focused animal rehabilitation hospital in Waynesboro, VA, needed higher-resolution, reliable remote video to monitor large flight pens, expand live streaming channels, and support distance-learning outreach. To address this, the Center engaged Axis Communications and deployed AXIS Q6035 PTZ Dome (HDTV 1080p) and AXIS P3367 Fixed Dome Network Cameras to provide optical pan/zoom and robust IP video streaming.
Axis Communications’ solution—eventually scaled to six AXIS Q6035 and four AXIS P3367 cameras—enabled remote diagnosis (for example identifying a corneal ulcer on a Great Horned Owl), three live web channels with moderated chat, and wider classroom outreach. The high-quality streams grew viewership to about 39,000 visitors per month, helped an online community raise funds (notably a $5,000 challenge), and strengthened the Center’s global engagement and education impact.
