A Axis Communications Case Study
The Italian Home for Children, a Boston-area residential and educational facility serving roughly 100 children with some 40 staff, needed to strengthen safety after relying on traditional keys and having limited outdoor visibility from its brick building. The organization turned to Axis Communications for an integrated access-control and video solution—specifically AXIS A1001 network door controllers, AXIS Entry Manager and AXIS network cameras—to address unauthorized key duplication and uncertainty about who was approaching or on the property.
Axis Communications deployed 18 AXIS A1001 controllers on external doors and sensitive interior rooms and installed AXIS P3365-VE and M3005-V network cameras, integrated with Salient Systems CompleteView VMS. The result: staff now scan ID badges for entry and administrators can instantly deactivate access cards, eliminating costly re-keying and reducing security risk; enhanced camera coverage of the parking lot and entrances improved situational awareness and incident response, reinforcing security habits so staff can focus on the children’s wellbeing.
