East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s library service set out to expand its Health Offer—reaching isolated communities, proving the service’s value to other council departments, and generating income through commissioned health and wellbeing projects. To do this they needed a digital platform to promote health resources, events and specialist collections across branches and online; they chose Axiell and its Arena public-facing library platform to support that work.

Axiell’s Arena was used to build a prominent Health Zone, promote hardcopy and digital health-related stock (including reminiscence and long-term conditions), and link council information back to the catalogue. The approach, measured with Google Analytics and customer feedback, put Health Zone in the top 15 pages (against a catalogue that saw 1.1 million page views last year), helped secure commissions from Public Health and leisure services, and strengthened partnerships with Archives and local charities—demonstrating tangible reach, income generation and increased visibility for libraries.
