System Electronics cuts picking errors by 90% with Axelera AI

Axelera AI partnered with System Electronics, an industrial OEM, to address a challenge in warehouse automation. System Electronics needed to develop a highly accurate, real-time AI system to verify orders picked by workers using Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS). The goal was to reduce picking errors by over 90% by accurately detecting hand movements and identifying objects moved from trays under challenging conditions like varying lighting and different types of gloves.

The solution implemented by Axelera AI utilized their Embedded 110m Card hardware accelerator, which provided the necessary processing power for real-time video analytics from four HD cameras. This enabled the system to track pickers' movements and verify picks with low latency and high accuracy. As a result, System Electronics achieved a significant reduction in false picks, meeting their goal of a 90% decline in errors, which enhanced overall warehouse productivity, reduced worker stress, and facilitated easier onboarding.
