Zapproved, a Portland-based SaaS provider of e-discovery software, needed a faster and more reliable way to process millions of legal documents each hour while handling massive log volumes and supporting rapid growth. Using AWS Lambda as part of its AWS-based Z-Discovery platform, the company set out to improve scalability, performance, and customer deployment speed without heavy upfront infrastructure investments.

AWS Lambda helped Zapproved automate OCR image processing in Digital Discovery Pro, process tens of millions of log entries per hour with Amazon Kinesis Firehose, and support security and API workflows across the platform. The results were dramatic: a 454-page PDF that previously took hours to process can now be completed in 20 seconds, customers can deploy applications in less than a week, and Zapproved reduced PDF processing costs from about 10 cents per page to a fraction of a penny per page.
