Case Study: Thomson Reuters achieves near-real-time analytics with AWS Lambda

A AWS Lambda Case Study

Preview of the Thomson Reuters Case Study

Thomson Reuters - Customer Case Study

Thomson Reuters, a leading information provider for business and professional markets, needed a cloud-based analytics platform to capture, analyze, and visualize usage data from hundreds of digital products. The company wanted a solution that could encrypt data in transit and at rest, scale to handle thousands of events per second during traffic spikes, minimize administration for a small team, and launch quickly. It chose AWS Lambda along with services such as Amazon Kinesis, Amazon S3, and AWS Key Management Service to build the platform.

With AWS Lambda and Amazon Kinesis, Thomson Reuters created Product Insight, a streaming analytics solution that ingests, processes, and delivers events in near real time while automatically scaling with demand. The result was a launch two months ahead of schedule, zero data loss since inception, and the ability to process up to 4,000 events per second, with a path to more than 10,000 within a year. New events now reach dashboards in less than 10 seconds, helping product and operations teams respond quickly to usage patterns and anomalies.
