PhotoVogue - Customer Case Study

PhotoVogue, the online photography platform from Vogue Italia owned by Condé Nast Italia, needed to keep up with rapidly growing photo submissions and publishing demands. Its existing infrastructure was slowing growth and making it hard to provision resources quickly, especially as it managed more than 400,000 photos from around 130,000 photographers. AWS Lambda was part of the cloud stack PhotoVogue chose to improve performance and scalability.

Working with AWS and partner XPeppers, PhotoVogue rebuilt its platform on Amazon S3, Amazon API Gateway, AWS Lambda, and Amazon CloudFront. AWS Lambda automatically converts uploaded images into multiple formats, while the new architecture made the site much faster and more reliable: upload and processing experiences improved by up to 90%, IT costs dropped by around 30%, and the team handled a 20% traffic spike during a Milan event without issues.
