Upland Localytics, a web and mobile app analytics and engagement company, needed a way for engineering teams to access subsets of its massive data pipeline without adding extra capacity planning, utilization monitoring, or infrastructure management. Using AWS Lambda, along with Amazon Kinesis, the team wanted to enable self-service microservice development without constantly updating the main analytics application.

AWS Lambda helped Upland Localytics decouple microservice development from the core analytics platform by creating new Lambda-powered services that tap into a Kinesis data stream in parallel. This let teams build and deploy features independently, eliminated the need to provision infrastructure for each microservice, and automatically scaled to handle tens of billions of data points each month—helping Localytics move new customer services to market faster.
