Case Study: Amway achieves rapid, secure launch of its first Internet-connected product with AWS IoT

A AWS IoT Case Study

Preview of the Amway Case Study

Using AWS IoT, Amway Delivers on Agile IoT Strategy with First Internet-Connected Product

Amway, the world's number-one direct-selling business, set out to add Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth to its Atmosphere Sky air‑treatment system and build a broader Internet of Things capability. Facing global scale, security, and agility requirements, Amway evaluated platforms and chose AWS IoT (along with AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon DynamoDB, and AWS Professional Services) to support secure device onboarding, telemetry, and remote control for its first internet‑connected product.

Using AWS IoT, Amway implemented a serverless architecture, Just‑In‑Time Registration with X.509 certificates, device pairing, firmware updates, and a CI/CD pipeline built with AWS Professional Services. The result: Amway delivered its first connected product in about 14 months, cut production deployment time from roughly a week to minutes–hours, avoided heavy infrastructure investment, and gained continuous device telemetry that is driving faster R&D, product improvements, and more agile product development.
