Luxoft and Vantage Power Enable Powertrain Innovation and Safety with AWS IoT Telemetry

Vantage Power, a London‑based designer and manufacturer of electrified heavy‑duty powertrains, faced pressure to get new hybrid and battery systems to market quickly while proving safety and regulatory compliance. They needed deep, cell‑level telemetry to detect lithium‑ion battery defects early, support remote diagnostics, and demonstrate compliance for fleets — requirements that led them to build a connected‑vehicle solution using AWS IoT services.

Working with Luxoft, Vantage Power created the VPVision telemetry platform on AWS IoT (including AWS IoT Core, AWS IoT Greengrass, AWS IoT Analytics, Amazon S3, and Amazon SageMaker). The solution ingests thousands of data points per vehicle, enables on‑vehicle and cloud ML, and delivers measurable gains: detection of high self‑discharge about one month earlier, an estimated 10% improvement in battery life, faster time‑to‑market by over six months, and lower operating costs through remote diagnostics and edge computing — all powered by AWS IoT.
