IDEXX Scales Pet-Health Technology Infrastructure Using AWS

IDEXX, a global leader in veterinary diagnostics and software, needed to scale its Smart Service platform, reporting infrastructure, and diagnostic‑image management to support rapid growth and high availability for busy veterinary practices. To meet those needs the company migrated its Smart Service IoT platform to AWS IoT and adopted AWS services such as AWS Lambda and Amazon S3 to address bottlenecks and storage challenges.

Using AWS IoT (alongside AWS Lambda and Amazon S3), IDEXX scaled Smart Service from about 60,000 to more than 145,000 devices with near‑zero downtime, effectively doubling IoT capacity and improving uptime. The company now stores over two million images per week in Amazon S3, removed a reporting cap that had limited throughput to 20 reports at a time via serverless scaling, and sped delivery of test results—delivering measurable gains in reliability, scalability, and innovation with AWS IoT.
