Environmental Monitoring Solutions (EMS), a Victoria, Australia–based provider of petrol‑station monitoring and support, built its Fuelsuite product to help large retailers manage hundreds of sites more efficiently, improve safety, and reduce environmental risk. EMS needed to collect heterogeneous sensor data from underground tanks and pumps at 30‑second intervals, aggregate it to the cloud for near‑real‑time visibility, and detect leaks early, so it selected AWS IoT as its IoT and cloud partner to re‑engineer Fuelsuite.

Working with APN partner DiUS, EMS implemented a Fuelscan edge device that wirelessly sends station sensor data to the AWS Cloud using AWS IoT (including AWS IoT Device Management), with messaging and processing on Amazon SQS and EC2 and storage in Amazon RDS, Elasticsearch Service, and S3. The AWS IoT‑enabled Fuelsuite now serves more than 1,000 petrol stations, delivers near‑real‑time performance and leak detection, and drives measurable gains—EMS estimates a 500% return on customers’ annual costs and faster rollout (12 months) thanks to the reliability and extensibility of AWS IoT.
