Laredo Migrates to Serverless Architecture on AWS, Sees $60,000 Net Gain Per Month

Laredo Petroleum needed a way to improve production efficiency across its electric submersible pump (ESP) operations and reduce downtime while making better field decisions. AWS Glue is named as the vendor in the case study context, and the solution described was built for AI-driven ESP optimization on AWS.

Working with SoftServe, Laredo deployed a custom application that combined machine learning-based and physics-based models to optimize ESP performance, supported by interactive simulation visualizations and control recommendations. The impact included real-time dashboards, reduced downtime and OpEx, and production gains of more than 800 BPD across 29 pilot wells, with the solution later scaled to 100+ wells in production.
