ZEE5 inserts millions of ads in live and VOD content using AWS

ZEE5, one of India’s largest OTT platforms, needed a way to launch server-side ad insertion quickly for its hybrid AVOD/SVOD service without building heavy scaling infrastructure. Using AWS Elemental MediaTailor as part of its live and VOD streaming workflow, ZEE5 also needed ad reporting, user-level customization, and integration with multiple CDNs and third-party ad and analytics services.

AWS Elemental implemented MediaTailor with MediaLive, MediaConvert, and MediaPackage to enable ad insertion across live and on-demand content, while also supporting integrations with CloudFront, Akamai, DFP, KaiOS devices, and MOAT. As a result, ZEE5 now runs SSAI on more than 18 live channels and delivers more than 100 million ads each month, with the platform able to scale to peak traffic of about 7,000 manifest requests per second.
