Washington Post’s Arc publishing platform uses AWS to transform the broadcast landscape

The Washington Post, founded in 1877, needed a more flexible way to support its Arc publishing platform as digital, mobile, and video demands grew beyond traditional print publishing. To meet that challenge, The Washington Post turned to AWS Elemental and AWS-based infrastructure to power Arc, including its Goldfish Video Management System and live video workflows.

AWS Elemental helped The Washington Post build Arc on a microservices architecture using services such as Amazon ECS, Amazon EC2, and AWS Elemental Media Services for video management, conversion, and delivery. The result was rapid, automated deployment with more than 50 deployments per day, support for 95 million visitors and 1 billion monthly page views, and the ability to onboard major clients like Raycom Media quickly, launching more than 40 stations and related mobile apps in under six months.
