Case Study: Terra achieves high-quality multi-screen Pan-American Games streaming with AWS Elemental Live

A AWS Elemental Case Study

Preview of the Terra Case Study

Terra uses AWS Elemental to stream major sporting events such as the Olympics and Pan American games to the web and mobile devices

Terra, the largest provider of Internet services in Latin America, needed to deliver high-quality, multi-screen video coverage of the 2011 Pan American Games to a worldwide audience. The challenge was to find a video processing solution that was both cost-effective and capable of reliably creating numerous adaptive bit rate streams. After a competitive evaluation, Terra selected AWS Elemental and its Elemental Live product to power this initiative.

AWS Elemental implemented its Elemental Live video processing system to encode incoming live feeds. The solution allowed Terra to output six HD and 12 SD adaptive bit rate streams simultaneously for web, tablet, and smartphone devices. As a result, Terra achieved a lower cost per stream with higher quality encoding, enabling them to reach a larger audience across more devices. The vendor's technology also provided real-time video overlay capabilities for live branding.
