A AWS Elemental Case Study
Sony Marketing Inc. faced the challenge of scaling its live video production for large sports events while reducing the high costs and logistical complexity of traditional on-premises infrastructure. A key technical constraint was that their chosen cloud switchers only supported 32 inputs, but their production required handling more than 90 live video sources. They partnered with AWS Elemental to find a cloud-based solution.
AWS Elemental implemented a hybrid architecture using AWS Elemental MediaConnect Router as a cloud-based routing layer upstream of the switchers. This eliminated the input bottleneck without adding physical hardware. The solution gave operators full access to all sources through a familiar control interface. The results included a significantly reduced physical footprint at venues, lower transportation and setup costs, and broadcast-quality production with improved flexibility and reliability.
