Prime Video features Burn Bar 14 times in NASCAR coverage with AWS Elemental

Prime Video, the streaming service of Amazon, faced the challenge of making the crucial, yet invisible, strategy of NASCAR fuel management visible and engaging for its viewers. Broadcasts historically lacked real-time fuel consumption data, leaving fans and announcers unable to analyze a key factor that decides race outcomes. To address this, they worked with vendor AWS Elemental and leveraged AWS cloud services to create an AI-powered insight called the Burn Bar.

AWS Elemental implemented a sophisticated real-time analytics solution built on AWS. The architecture uses Amazon ECS with Fargate for data ingestion, Amazon Managed Service for Apache Flink for processing telemetry every three seconds, and Amazon Kinesis Data Streams to handle the data flow. The result, the Burn Bar, predicts and visualizes each driver's fuel burn rate and efficiency during the race. This solution became a mainstay of coverage, featured 14 times in the 2025 season, providing announcers and fans with unprecedented strategic insights and enhancing the storytelling and excitement of the broadcast.
