A AWS Elemental Case Study
Marriott International needed a way to live-stream its annual Awards of Excellence ceremony so employees worldwide could watch in real time, with DVR-style catch-up for late joiners, reliable recording for post-event use, and viewership analytics. The solution had to support about 10,000 concurrent viewers across a wide range of devices and network conditions while keeping implementation simple and highly available.
Rivet Logic built a static website on Amazon S3 and used AWS Elemental MediaLive for adaptive bitrate live and live-to-VOD encoding, MediaPackage for just-in-time packaging and DVR catch-up, CloudFront (with Adobe Analytics) for global delivery and reporting, and an S3–Lambda–SNS–Elastic Transcoder pipeline to generate VOD renditions for Crafter Video Center. The result was a flawless, scalable live stream with pay-as-you-go economics, recorded assets for post-production, detailed audience metrics, and clear options to integrate enterprise video into Marriott’s intranet.
