Germany’s DFL taps AWS Media Services for new live streaming platform

DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga, the governing body of the Bundesliga, needed a more flexible and interactive way to deliver live and time-shifted football streams to fans around the world. Working with AWS Elemental and AWS Media Services, the league wanted to overcome limits from fixed hardware and bandwidth while supporting international broadcast rights holders and multiple viewing devices.

AWS Elemental implemented a cloud-based streaming workflow using AWS Elemental MediaLive, MediaConnect, MediaPackage, and Amazon CloudFront, with Logic Media as the systems integrator. The solution automated encoding, secure transport, ABR packaging, and global distribution, enabling DFL to launch its new live streaming platform quickly and without new hardware. The result was faster distribution in seconds, easier scaling and redundancy, reduced maintenance, and the ability to reach more fans globally with greater interactivity.
