Preview of the Fuji Television Case Study

Fuji television realizes ultra-low latency video delivery of the 2019 FIVB Volleyball World Cup

Fuji Television needed to deliver live coverage of the 2019 FIVB Volleyball World Cup with ultra-low latency, but had to first figure out how to support an unknown number of simultaneous viewers and minimize delay across multiscreen devices. Working with AWS Elemental and AWS media solutions, the broadcaster prepared a new live-video workflow for fast, reliable internet delivery.

AWS Elemental helped Fuji Television implement a CMAF-ULL workflow using AWS Elemental MediaStore and Amazon CloudFront, enabling chunked transfer and managed distribution. The solution was set up in just four weeks and achieved two to three seconds of latency, equivalent to digital terrestrial broadcasting, while allowing tens of thousands of viewers to watch at once and freeing the team from complex scaling and failure-response operations.
