fuboTV is a virtual multichannel video programming distributor focused on live sports, delivering more than 70 channels through web, mobile, and TV apps. Although many network partners provided ad inventory for fuboTV to manage, the company's initial cloud-based video infrastructure couldn't perform dynamic ad insertion for live streams, preventing it from monetizing that inventory and capturing incremental revenue.
fuboTV implemented AWS Elemental MediaTailor, which integrates into its existing workflow with minimal change—players simply point to MediaTailor instead of the origin—and queries two ad decision servers to insert frame-accurate, ABR-matched ads into individual streams before distribution. The result: a new, significant ad revenue stream, lower-pressure subscription pricing, and a lightweight, easy-to-manage solution that lets fuboTV experiment quickly with monetization strategies.
