France Télévisions faced the challenge of implementing a scalable and reliable Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI) solution to personalize advertising during high-audience live events like the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The broadcaster needed a system that could handle millions of concurrent streams, bypass ad blockers, and ensure a seamless viewing experience without interruptions.

AWS, through its AWS Elemental MediaTailor service, provided the SSAI solution. The implementation involved a multi-region AWS architecture using services like MediaLive and MediaPackage to process and deliver the live streams. This allowed France Télévisions to dynamically insert personalized ads. The results were outstanding, with the platform achieving 320 million ad insertions and doubling its advertising revenue compared to the previous year.
