Foxtel Group, a dynamic technology-led streaming company in Australia, faced significant challenges with dynamic ad insertion for its Kayo Sports service. The high concurrency of viewers during live sports events overwhelmed their downstream ad providers, leading to lost revenue from blank ad slots. To address this, they partnered with AWS Elemental and leveraged its MediaTailor service.

AWS Elemental developed and implemented the prefetch feature in MediaTailor in close collaboration with Foxtel Group. This solution reads ahead of the live playout schedule to retrieve and prepare ad content in anticipation of breaks, preventing system overload. As a result, AWS Elemental helped Kayo Sports boost its live event ad fill rate to over 95%, representing a 25% increase that significantly maximized ad revenue.
