A AWS Elemental Case Study

Preview of the FOX Case Study

FOX streams Super Bowl LIX to 24 million viewers with AWS Elemental

FOX faced the challenge of delivering a broadcast-quality, low-latency live stream for the Super Bowl to a record-breaking audience of over 24 million unique viewers. They needed to ensure 100% uptime while simultaneously scaling 4K streaming support, all during the year's most critical broadcast event. To meet these ambitious goals, FOX collaborated with AWS and leveraged services like AWS Elemental MediaLive and MediaStore.

The solution implemented with AWS involved a comprehensive, optimized video tech stack using AWS Elemental services for encoding and origin, along with Amazon CloudFront as a key part of a multi-CDN strategy. AWS provided dedicated planning, load testing, and real-time support. The results were a resounding success: FOX achieved record viewership with 28% of streams in 4K, maintained exceptional reliability with almost no rebuffering, and Amazon CloudFront carried the largest share of the event's traffic seamlessly.
