Astro launches 15 FAST channels with AWS Elemental MediaTailor

Astro, Malaysia's leading content creator, faced a complex and expensive challenge when launching traditional linear channels. To augment its DTH and OTT services, it sought a more efficient way to deploy free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels. Astro turned to AWS Elemental, using AWS Elemental MediaTailor to assemble these channels with personalized ad insertion.

With AWS Elemental MediaTailor, Astro automated content curation and built an integrated workflow using several AWS services, including MediaConvert and MediaConnect. This solution allowed them to simultaneously deliver FAST channels to both OTT and satellite platforms quickly and cost-efficiently. The results included launching 15 FAST channels, simplified workflows, reduced internal costs, and a lower carbon footprint. AWS Elemental's support and the local AWS infrastructure in Malaysia ensured a stable and optimized deployment for future expansion.
