A AWS CodePipeline Case Study
3M Health Information Systems (3M), a global leader in healthcare software, needed to scale and process millions of electronic records per day while reducing the burden of IT operations. Their natural-language–processing workloads created heavy, time‑varying compute demand and long provisioning and deployment cycles, so 3M moved to AWS and adopted DevOps tooling — including AWS CodePipeline — to gain the scalability and CI/CD automation required.
Working with AWS (using EC2, S3, RDS, CodeCommit, CodeDeploy, CloudFormation, IAM and AWS CodePipeline), 3M migrated key applications and automated deployments with AWS Professional Services’ help. The move let them spin up hundreds of instances (200 for a large job), cut server provisioning from 10 weeks to minutes, improve one core process by 20%, and accelerate deployments from six weeks to weekly (with multiple daily deployments planned), enabling measurable cost savings on idle capacity and faster innovation.
