Large Oil and Gas Company was targeted by a spear phishing campaign that hit 80 employees, with nearly half clicking the malicious link. The security team first learned of the attack when a user reported a suspicious email, and they needed a way to quickly identify who had been exposed and whether credentials had been stolen. Awake Security and its Awake Security Platform were used to investigate the incident.

Awake Security enabled analysts to trace the attack infrastructure, expose the fake Microsoft SharePoint login page, identify users who clicked and entered credentials, and pivot to related domains and attacker TTPs. What would typically take days was completed in minutes, surfacing 35 users who clicked the link and the subset that revealed credentials, while also turning the investigation into ongoing protection against future activity from the same threat actors.
