Case Study: Semcoglas achieves streamlined production control with A+W Software

A A+W Software Case Study

Preview of the Semcoglas Case Study

Production Control Through A+w Production

Semcoglas Glastechnik, a producer of high-end toughened and laminated glass, was struggling with an inefficient production control system. Their existing software could not synchronize complex, multi-step processes or provide real-time information to machine operators, leading to potential downtime and delays. The management team decided to implement a new software system from vendor A+W Software, selecting their ALCIM production planning and control solution along with the ALFAK ERP system to establish a fully networked information flow.

A+W Software implemented its ALCIM and ALFAK systems in a demanding three-month project. The solution introduced barcode-based sheet tracking and placed monitors at every workstation, providing operators with all necessary processing data and enabling real-time production control. This drastically reduced paperwork to primarily just a barcode label. The project was a success, going live on schedule in October 2009. Semcoglas reported that 95% of the project goals were met, resulting in excellent cooperation, seamless information integration between administration and the shop floor, and the ability to precisely track every glass sheet throughout its entire production cycle for superior customer service.
