University of Washington Deploys AVST’s CX-E to 18,000 Users

The University of Washington, a large public research university with 54,000 students and 18,000 faculty and staff, needed to replace its end-of-life Octel 350 voicemail system with a solution that could integrate with its Avaya telephony, support mixed email platforms (Gmail and Exchange, with Office 365 planned), minimize disruption across 200+ buildings and global research sites, and handle extremely high volume—up to 300,000 calls per month—while delivering advanced unified communications and mobile features.

After evaluating competitors, UW selected AVST’s CX-E for meeting all requirements and ease of administration. CX-E was rolled out in phases using Octel TUI emulation for a smooth cutover, backed by Neverfail high-availability architecture and AVST’s Premium XpressCare support; today CX-E serves all 18,000 users (and Harborview Medical Center), provides unified messaging across email systems, reliably supports heavy call volumes, and continues to evolve through an ongoing partnership with AVST.
