A AVST Case Study
San Diego State University (SDSU), a 34,000‑student public research university, faced an urgent need to replace its end‑of‑life Octel Aria voicemail across campus and remote sites. The university required a next‑generation unified communications (UC) platform that would integrate with existing telephony and Google™ Gmail, deliver advanced mobility and automation, and reliably handle very high call volumes—up to 200,000 calls per week—while minimizing user disruption.
SDSU selected AVST’s CX‑E platform for its Octel‑compatible telephone interface, hybrid‑cloud unified messaging, and scalable architecture. The migration was smooth with minimal training, and the deployment (three call servers and one system server) provided high redundancy and uninterrupted service. Results included a 4× reduction in maintenance costs, reliable handling of mission‑critical voice traffic, and new mobility and speech‑enabled features planned to improve campus productivity.
