A AVST Case Study
Pacific Lutheran University (PLU), a private university of about 3,500 students founded in 1890, needed a flexible communications strategy as it moved from legacy telephony to VoIP/SIP, virtualization and greater mobility—while supporting multiple email platforms and protecting confidential campus hearings. The challenge was to modernize without disrupting faculty and staff, preserve previous technology investments, and provide secure, easy access to voicemail and recordings across devices.
PLU relied on AVST’s CX-E unified communications platform to bridge old and new systems: CX-E interoperated with different PBXs, enabled virtualization to cut hardware and simplify administration, delivered unified messaging across Outlook, Gmail and Thunderbird, and provided secure, long-form voice recording for sensitive hearings. The result was seamless migration to an IP and mobile-ready environment, preserved investment flexibility, improved accessibility and privacy for users, and a scalable foundation for future features like speech-enabled assistants.
