U.S. Air Force Base Launches Intelligent Video Security Solution Offutt Air Force Base

Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska—a longtime strategic and operational hub for USSTRATCOM and home to multiple mission-ready aircraft—faced a surveillance shortfall after a distant crash showed how limited cellphone footage can be for investigations. The base needed a reliable system that could capture entire takeoffs and landings (up to 4.5 miles away) in high resolution and full-frame rate, retain months of footage while managing bandwidth efficiently, and provide real-time situational awareness during emergencies like floods.

Offutt installed Avigilon’s suite of cameras (four 30 MP HD PRO with LightCatcher plus zoom lenses) and Avigilon Control Center with HDSM on the control tower, delivered and supported by Motorola Solutions and Inteconnex. The system provides smooth 8 fps HD recordings with two months of retention, excellent low-light performance, remote real-time monitoring, and easy retrieval—enabling precise investigations, improved training and safety, and enhanced emergency response with minimal onsite maintenance.
