A Avigilon Case Study
The Sioux City Public Museum, a 55,000 sq ft downtown cultural institution with collections valued at over $2 million and 5,000+ monthly visitors, needed a reliable way to ensure public safety, deter criminal activity, and protect artifacts without a permanent security staff. Its open-concept building, multiple entry points and a rear loading dock increased vulnerability to trespassing and theft, and stricter security was required to host traveling exhibits.
Working with Electric Innovations, the Museum deployed 15 Avigilon HD cameras (1 MP and 2 MP), Avigilon Control Center software and an NVR, with live monitoring from desktops and a permanent reception monitor and 29 days of recorded footage. The system improved image clarity and usability, reduced trespassing and false-liability risk, lowered insurance costs, met exhibit security requirements, and delivered a lower total cost of ownership while helping attract new audiences.
