Case Study: Long Beach Housing Authority achieves 70% crime reduction with Avigilon surveillance solutions

A Avigilon Case Study

Preview of the Long Beach Housing Authority Case Study

Reducing Crime, Building Community

Long Beach Housing Authority (LBHA) manages public housing in Long Beach, NY, a densely populated, high-risk area in Nassau County. Faced with obsolete cameras, poor image quality and limited coverage that left tenants vulnerable to crime and vandalism, LBHA needed a lasting security solution with clearer video, broader surveillance, real-time alerts and easy export of footage for law enforcement.

Working with integrator DVSS, LBHA installed a full Avigilon solution — ACC video management, HD NVRs, encoders and H4 Pro, Dome and Multisensor cameras with self-learning analytics (including loitering detection). The upgraded system improved image quality, expanded coverage and integrated directly with the Long Beach Police Department, resulting in a 70% reduction in crime, 23 high-profile arrests and admissible video evidence — helping restore safety and confidence in the community.
